The Yukon Quest is a volunteer effort from beginning to end. This epic 1,000 mile international sled dog race would never have been possible without the volunteer efforts of thousands of dedicated individuals all of whom have lent a hand ... and sometimes much more - over the past 37 years. Volunteers are a vital support to race operations, office administration and fundraising. The Yukon Quest welcomes volunteers from all over Alaska, the Yukon and around the world. Join our incredible volunteer team.
We are very excited and looking forward to seeing you in Fairbanks, Alaska for the Official Start on Saturday, February 1 or for Finish Week in Whitehorse, Yukon between February 10 and 14, 2020. Volunteer and Visitor Planning documents provide an overview of the Yukon Quest, as well as volunteer information for the 2020 Race. In these documents, you will find maps, checkpoint descriptions, tips on clothing and weather, travel industry details, etc. If you still have questions or concerns after reading these documents, please contact either Yukon Quest office.
Special 2021 Volunteer Information
Due to border restrictions due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we are not able to put on a full 1,000 mile race this year. We are looking forward to getting back to normal next year though. The Alaska side is able to put on our normal 300 mile race, The Summit Quest, named for the two major summits the trail crosses on the Alaska side, Rosebud and Eagle.
We are still looking for volunteers for this race though. Volunteers can glean much information from the documents below while we update them for this year.
If you are thinking about volunteering for our 2021 Summit Quest, please email [email protected]
Thank you so much!
